111.4 - Wait
"Wait." She whispered almost in a panic as the clerk reached for the ring. His hand stopped with a sympathetic look on his face.
It wasn't just that her engagement ring was the prettiest piece of jewelry she'd ever owned. It was a promise. The thing was that if there was any hope of them fulfilling that promise, Sam needed to get back to the city. To do that, he needed money and since it was unlikely that the money that was stolen would be recovered, she had to do what she had to do.
"Ma'am?" He replied gently after a few moments.
Nikki squeezed her eyes shut a second before finally handing him the ring. "Sorry. I'm ready now. Thank you."
