MR 131.1.a

"Bad news like a sucker punch blew me away
People fill the streets like nothing has changed
Clock hands tick along, they don't look the same
Planes fly overhead like any old day."
• Bad News, Bastille

Rhodes was having a strange day today and it was just messing with his head completely. First the patient he thought was okay after surgery that Latham said was not. It kind of just blew him away the way that man could just hear the slightest sound he could not. Just knowing what could have happened if Latham hadn't listened after him was like a sucker punch right to the gut when one isn't looking. He really had no time to process it entirely before he was needed again.

Halstead wanting him to perform a surgery on a man who the scans didn't even show conclusively was in need of the surgery. The other doctor was so secure in his diagnosis it seemed and after what he saw earlier? Rhodes would take the leap that was needed for the patient. He was surprised to find for the second time that day he was left speechless by what a doctor could hear or even feel that he just didn't see. It made him question himself a bit. He watched people go on with their day as if nothing amazing had happened. It made him want to be that good as well. He knew it would take practice and he was more than willing to put in the time needed to do just that.

The best way to do that was while the world went on unaware Connor Rhodes sat in the medical library listening the sounds of various heartbeats. When he decided he wanted something he went all in to achieve that.
