"Someday, you're going to meet someone who makes you happy, makes you feel beautiful, and stands by you even when you feel like you don't deserve them." - Unknown

Barry had never had a friend he connected to as well as he did Felicity. It had been a shock for him to see her arrive in Central City, but it had been a very pleasant surprise to hear she had checked in on him when he had been in a coma. He would be lying if he didn't admit to himself that there was a niggle of wistfulness in seeing her, and spending time with her that proved to him how well they got along. It was true, they would be perfect for each other... if their hearts didn't belong to other people.

He didn't know if Oliver would ever reciprocate Felicity's feelings. What he had done that he was now riddled with guilt over was not correct her assumptions that it was Iris who held his heart. She had, once upon a time, but it was one of those sorts of crushes that would never eventuate into something else and probably solely based on the fact he had no other social life to speak of before the coma. Work was is social life, along with Joe and Iris. That wasn't even an exaggeration, unfortunately.

The lightning strike had changed his life. It had changed everything about him, and the first few weeks after he regained consciousness, it had been a hard and fast realisation that nothing was ever going to happen with Iris. She was happy, and even if he wasn't sure he liked the dude she was dating, that didn't negate how she smiled when she was with him. It was nice. In fact, watching them, Barry had realised he wanted to find someone that made him smile like that.

Then he had. Sort of. What he had found was someone he clicked with, whom he had assumed would just be a friend. Alex - aka Havok - and he was just as nerdy as both him and Felicity. Felicity would love him, so why the hell hadn't Barry revealed that not-so-little detail to her when she visited? He had been trying to isolate the why, whether it was trying to protect Alex, or whether it was more couched in uncertainty over where their relationship stood after this last week when it felt like Alex-s whole team of X-Men were eyeballing him as a possible suspect who tried to kill one of their own. On the contrary, he had saved the guys life, but it was a sticky and messy situation. It had left Barry doubting where things stood with him and Alex.

He knew he should have told Fecility about Alex. She would have been over the moon for him, without a shadow of a doubt. Instead, in the wake of the mess with Warren Worthington, Barry had let himself flirt a little with the idea of dating Felicity and what could have been. Ultimately, they both realised that Felicity was most certainly in love with Oliver Queen, and Barry was... not at all in love with Iris, but in love with Alex. Something he had yet to tell Alex. SOmething he was getting more and more nervous about, and nervous just flipped him right back into awkward nerdsville, which he and Felicity were King and Queen of.

Felicity hadn't been gone long, but he was missing her. He wished he could have her close by and on-hand to hang out whenever they felt like it. Plus, he should have been honest with her. She had always been honest with him, in her own unique, adorable awkward way. He stepped off the treadmill in the lab, grabbing the towel to wipe the sweat off his face. He wasn't even out of breath; he never was when he ran anymore, unless he really tried to push his limits that were still, as yet, uknown.

He tossed the towel aside and grabbed his cell phone, bringing Felicity up on his contacts. It was only a ring and a half before she answered. "Hey, Felicity, it's Barry... do you think I could drop by for a visit?"
