Nerves
Driver introductions. I can hear the pop song they're blasting over the PA through the wall. We're leaning against it, each of us waiting to be called. Me and the other twenty-two people who are my friends and my enemies simultaneously. I check the collar strap on my fire suit just to have something to do with my hands. Try not to think about how today will happen or how I want it to happen. Glance between Will and Scott to make sure they're still there. Take a deep breath to stop the rapid beat of my heart. Then go.
