Chaos
The attack on the house was so sudden that I wasn't thinking. A goddamn rocket launcher had just shot through the living room and armed soldiers were swarming the place. Soldiers that were trying to kill the man I loved. He didn't want to give me the gun; I wanted it, wanted to protect him when I should've been letting him protect me, wanted to fight for my family that I didn't want to lose.
I raised that gun and I pulled the trigger. Three times. I saw the man in front of me and I saw the bullets go through his head. Everyone tells me that I was doing what I had to do; that I was acting in self-defense and I have nothing to be ashamed of. But I watched a man die because of something I did. For the rest of my life, I'm going to be a killer. And I'll never stop wishing that I had made another choice.
