Life
In the grander scheme of things, appendicitis wasn't a big deal. What was a big deal was the person you were dating being ill and in pain. It didn't matter the cause, you wanted to do what you could to help them feel better. You wanted to be there until you know for sure they would be okay. Nick just couldn't help but ponder how life had the ability to twist, turn and change so quickly, there was never really a way to map it out.
His life had been a rollercoaster this past twelve months, and to say his heart had been put through the wringer was an understatement. What it had all led him to was here, in this new relationship, that truly brought him a lot of inner peace. It was very new, but already Nick knew it felt right. Cheyne was a sweetheart. He was gorgeous and incredibly talented. But beyond that skin-deep stuff, Cheyne talked to him. He listened. He cared. They enjoyed each other's company and being together. Above and beyond all else, that was all that mattered.
It was nice for Nick to finally feel he was worthy of being someone's lover, and worthy of all the special things that came with it.
