Misbehave
Jace looked uncertainly at the adult consent form in his hand, and then up at Ainsley standing there with an eager grin on his face. Then he looked back down at the form, and then once again to Ainsley's face. "Ange changed her mind?"
"Yeah!" Ainsley replied with a nod, tugging at his scarf to loosen it. "Belated birthday present."
Unfortunately, Jace wasn't having the best of days. His brain was feeling a bit like a dodgy wifi connection. When he had woken up, it took him close to fifteen minutes to figure out how to button his shirt, and was too proud to ask Christian for help. Jesse and Evan were both at work, and sometimes, Jace just didn't want to feel like a disabled person.
He shrugged, and dropped the consent form onto the reception counter with a nod. "Okay. He had over to the chair and make yourself comfortable." Perhaps the biggest thing that fell through the cracks of his mind that day was to think to phone Angela up and double check the consent. He was focused on setting everything up to go ahead with this birthday tattoo Ainsley wanted.
If nothing else, Jace was slow and steady with his work, making sure he focused on the task at hand, even if everything else trickled out of the nooks of his injured brain. Settling in his seat, he was running through all the shit Ainsley needed to know, including the fact that no matter how big or small the work Jace did, he would always be slow. It was just how he worked, on the chance if his brain decided right that minute was a good time for a seizure, he didn't screw up the work or hurt the client.
Ainsley had all the enthusiasm as if he was facing an epic ride at Disneyland. He prepped the area and cleaned the skin with the antiseptic. After all the standard motions, he picked up the gun and gave Ainsley a pointed gaze. The poor kid probably didn't notice the fatigue creeping into Jace's features.
"This is going to hurt..." Jace warned, giving Ainsley a chance to back out. He didn't, so Jace proceeded with the first pin-prick to Ainsley's skin.
Less than fifteen minutes later, the gun fell from Jace's hand when his brain did, indeed, decide with that moment inking a poor under-aged kid was the perfect time for a seizure.
