Quote of the Day 051.

“Happiness is having a dream you cannot let go of and a partner who would never ask you to.”
- Robert Brault

One of the pluses of working for an international celebrity was that he had connections, and without even being asked, he would pull strings for you. It was only the day after Logan told Kyle that he had always wanted to dance at The Prince George Ballroom, and maybe they could think about it being the venue for their wedding. August 12th was the date they set for the wedding and in the process of asking Angel to be his Best Man, he had told Angel where they hoped the venue might be. It was literally later that evening that Angel called him and told him he had set up a meeting with the Events Coordinator at The Ballroom for him and Kyle the next day.

Logan was just awestruck on their tour. Kyle pushed him around in the wheelchair because it would have been too much to be on his feet for that long, and Logan just sat there, drinking in every inch of the amazing place. He knew without a doubt this was where he wanted to get married, and he had literally been holding his breath when Kyle asked him if August 12th that year was free. It was, and in the chair, Logan had done the best happy dance he could manage sitting and made an excited shrieking sound, clapping his hands. Maybe it was kismet... or maybe Kyle would have done anything to ensure that Logan got what he wanted for this wedding. Kyle was definitely a typical boy. He didn't really know about the finer things to do with a wedding, but Logan had been so damn fucking proud of him when he asked all the necessary questions so Logan could just bask in the inspiration of being in this amazing place that felt like a dream come true.

Then the quote - who sounded snooty but was really lovely - told them he would leave them alone to discuss their business further. As soon as they had the massive room to themselves, Logan pushed himself across the polished floors and then spun the chair in a quick 360, drawing the whole in in quickly with a grin. He had gotten pretty clever in the wheelchair now. He was a true dancer at heart, he hadn't been able to sit still when there was music around. He had actually learned to move in the chair and even though he wasn't on his feet, it was an okay substitute.

Kyle was standing there with his hands in his pockets, watching Logan in amusement. He had that look on his face he always got when he had those moments where he couldn't quite realise Logan wanted to marry him. Logan had those moments himself when it came to Kyle, when he was winning top awards in hockey or scoring the game-winning goals. The actual sport might make him nervous because he didn't want the guy he loved being hurt, but he was forever bursting in pride and didn't know how a roughnut hockey sports dude who liked fart contests, beer drinking, and a diet of hot dogs and pizza (on his downtime, of course) was somehow his perfect match. But they just worked and this right now was one of those moments where Logan could tell how proud Kyle was of him and that sharing these moments with Logan was one of his favourite things.

Halting the chair with his hands, Logan gave Kyle a sheepish smile. "I'm doing it again, aren't I? Going into dancer mode," he realised, catching himself at it. He had a habit of that, but for a few months there, he had gotten into a very real depression facing the prospect he might never dance again. Now he could see the light at the end of the tunnel, and whilst the soundtrack playing in his head was inevitable something from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack, the light itself... was coming from Kyle. Kyle had been his rock through this whole ordeal, and now they were going to get married in this amazing place. Right here, under this roof, was where Kyle was going to become his husband.

He didn't wait for Kyle's answer. Instead, he put the brakes on the wheelchair and then held his hand out to his fiancé. When Kyle took his, Logan began to stand up very slowly with Kyle's strong arms supporting him. They stepped a couple of steps away from the chair, and Logan's hands were resting on Kyle's arms. He smiled at him softly and then leaned closer to brush his lips against Kyle's. Kyle had his arms steadily and protectively around Logan's waist, so Logan took the chance to pull his cell phone from his pocket and flicked up his 'Love of my Life' playlist that had all the songs on it that reminded him of Kyle. He glanced up at Kyle and flashed him another sweet smile before hitting the play button on of the many versions of The Way You Look Tonight he had on there, this one his favourite by Phil Collins and the exact one they danced to for the first time.

His arms wrapped around Kyle and when they began to sway very softly to the music, he rested his head down on Kyle's shoulder, enjoying the moment and knowing it was setting what they already knew in stone - this was where they were going to get married. Kyle might be the rough, blokey, built-like-a-brick-shithouse sports star, but he had never once took Logan's talent and love for dance for granted. He wanted to share it with him, and be there when his dreams came true, in the front row cheering louder than anyone else when Logan made it to the top.

What Kyle didn't realise was that dance might be what flowed through Logan's veins, but it was Kyle who was in his heart... and he planned to show him just how much it was his heart that that made him want to forever keep dancing.
