Pain was the first awareness he had when his consciousness started to claw back. Pain all over. It was impossible to isolate the source of it. It wasn't helping that he felt like he was paralysed for a few terrifying moments. Or maybe it was minutes, possibly hours? He had no awareness of time either. He had no idea where he was, or what was wrong. The attempt to fight it was fruitless. He couldn't move, and it took awhile for him to realise that he wasn't paralysed... he was tied up.
