I've had a few people over the years ask me why my personal trainer is a former UFC fighter. They want to know why I'm not with someone who works specifically with racers or who has more than two and a half years of experience as a trainer. The people who ask me this have usually never met Peter McCachren. Before I knew my husband, I had never seen anyone as in shape as Peter is. He was nicknamed 'The Predator' for a reason; the man is a beast. I've seen him literally kick a door in, with one shot. I could bounce a quarter off his abs, and I actually did once, much to his amusement.

Peter may train for mixed martial arts and not open-wheel racing, but he trains harder and more thoroughly than anyone else. And even if there were better trainers out there, which I'm not necessarily willing to concede that there are, there's no one who'd be better for me.

( I met him on the treadmill at the gym. I know that sounds like a meet-cute at the start of a sappy Lifetime movie, but it's the truth. )
