093.6. Picture Prompt

Brooklyn Bridge

It was hard to feel like the ache inside that had taken residence since Mother’s Day would go away. When your whole family were in pain and there was nothing you could do but ride it out, the simplest of tasks took a lot of energy. But Angel was determined to do whatever it took to make today as perfect for his bride as he could. They had waited a year and a half for this. Ultimately, it didn’t matter how, it just mattered that it was special and memorable.

It was a beautiful day, and the view of the Brooklyn Bridge was spectacular. It wasn’t often that he used his connections to pull strings for his own gain, but today was different. Today was all about Rose, and this place had an incredibly special place in their heart. Jane’s Carousel, looking out onto Brooklyn Bridge was where they visited on their first date, and rode the hell out of that thing laughing their heads off and having a ball. It was also the place they brought their new baby daughter for her first outing and they rode the carousel together as their new little family unit.

Rose was expecting a quick and simple ceremony at City Hall to get the legalities done, but he couldn’t let that be her wedding day. It had to special because she was one of the most beautiful, selfless people in the whole world and she deserved it. He knew that Austin had secretly gone about designing Rose a wedding dress for whenever her special day was, and he had it finished and waiting for when they would set a date. No one expected it to happen so quickly, but no one expecting Rosie to miscarry the surrogate pregnancy and leave them all feeling like their hearts had been ripped out.

Angel hadn’t seen the dress. He had butterflies in his stomach as he waited for Rose to arrive with her dad in Austin’s creation. Lorenzo had done an amazing, very short notice job with the flowers that were light purple roses and white daisies. He was there waiting now with Lewis, who had been with Rose earlier doing her makeup. Her three sisters were there in beautiful bridesmaids dresses, and her brothers all in matching suits. Quickest wedding arrangements in the history of ever, and all that only reminded him how amazing his friends and family were, cherished unconditionally. Yes, Angel had pulled a lot of strings, and Rose was going to get her real wedding. There was going to be no quickie, faceless ceremony with just a couple of witnesses. Her whole family was there, and so were their closest friends. Hell, he even had two professional photographers and a videographer so not a single moment was missed.

It wasn’t going to be a huge and lavish wedding. That wasn’t for either of them. He might be a professional musician, but he was a simple and traditional guy deep down. Family was his priority above all else, and now that Daisy had arrived a year ago, being a daddy. He didn’t just get to see his beautiful wife-to-be arrive looking gorgeous, but she would have their little girl in her arms and the only thing that would ever top this day was the day Daisy was born. Where she had arrived so quickly that Angel actually had to deliver her himself with prompting from the paramedic over his cell phone on speaker.

The day would inevitably be twinged with heartache, but Angel knew that this was exactly where they needed to be right now. He was getting married to the girl of his dreams, who he still looked at on a daily basis and thought she was incredible and gorgeous. All he had to do now was stand there and wait for her to arrive, deliberately not making eye contact with his twin who was his Best Man standing at his side. He knew if he did that, he would start tearing up. There would be plenty of time for that later.
