It isn't. I wish you had, but you did what you thought was best, and ultimately, your goal was to protect him, not to keep from hurting my feelings. If you put me before him in anyway, you wouldn't be a great mom. I know we're not exactly rocking it yet, but I think we can get things on a good track.

I guess so. But he's the only little person I know how to parent. I was always just glad he wasn't two.

Jeez, that would've been crazy. We don't have many twins in my family, but I know you and Luci are twins.

We have twin through my Italian side. Both identical and fraternal. My dad and Nick's mom are fraternal twins. I wouldn't have been able to carry twins to term.

One's enough. I've had the ability to give him my whole focus. I don't know how people have, like 4 kids under the age of 5.

I don't know how they do it, either. Then again, I'm still learning how you do it with one.

I guess learning how to be a parent never really stops.

I don't remember seeing a Parenting 101 anywhere.

I've seen them but I get the feeling they don't teach much that you don't have to really learn on the job anyway.

Well, unless they teach exactly how to parent your own, unique child, they're useless and I pity the dickheads wasting money on them and probably believing they're better parents than others because of it. Yes, there are parenting classes, but a lot of those just give you tactics and concepts for effective parenting. They still don't tell you how to raise your child.

Seriously. I know there are some of those classes that have benefits, but they don't teach you about your own kid and their specific needs. It's more generic than that, and there's nothing generic about kids.

They're good if you have no idea what to do, but I'm lucky I was raised with sound enough values and support that I've been able to make my own way.

I have a mom who did her best... My dad not so much, but I think I have some pretty good parenting examples to learn from around me.

What do you want to learn?

Most of what I want to learn, no one can teach me but Benny. The things that make him happy. How he likes to be snuggled. Those kinds of things. But I think Mark and some of the other guys just set a good dad example in general, if that makes sense.

I don't know how well he'll take to you. He's not very trusting.

He came by that honestly... Couple of attorneys for parents, he didn't have a chance in hell of trusting anyone. I know it'll take time and work. I'm not afraid of that.
