So maybe you could join me for dinner and we could have one together? I'd let you pick the restaurant, considering you said you've just been in Italy, I'm assuming most American Italian food places don't do it for you.

No, not at all. It's just that a lot of times, once you've had the authentic food, you don't really want the knockoff anymore.

Wow, I sounded like a total asshole, didn't I? Sorry. I didn't mean it like that. I just meant... I mean if you've been in Italy, you'd probably know the best places for...

You know what, I'm going to stop now. Pizza? With me? Yes/No/Pie?

If I had to wait for authentic Italian, I'd had have to starve. Not a good look. I won't lie, nothing is like authentic Italian pizza, but that doesn't mean I don't like the other sort too. In moderation, of course.

Yeah, sure. Why not?

Fair enough. Don't starve. I've only just met you, and I'd rather keep you alive so we can get to know each other better.

Is there a night that works best for you this week? I'm good for any evenings. I get off work around 5 usually, and then I have to shower, because I work at a veterinary office, and nobody wants to go on a date with a guy who smells like dogs. It's not exactly Giorgio Armani's next scent.

Weekends are better for me. I'm only on-call once a month on weekends.

Really? Vets always smells like antiseptic, don't they?

That sounds good. So this weekend? Saturday? Sunday?

The office does, yeah. I may be exaggerating on the dog smell, though sometimes it is pretty strong depending on the patients, but I still won't go out until after I've showered. Although I don't work the weekends, so that's even better.

Make it Saturday. Assuming my cousin doesn't need my help. She's got a sick kid, but I think she's got it all in hand.

Sounds like a plan.

I'm down. :) That's totally okay. Family comes first. Sick kid? Hopefully not in danger sick? What's wrong?

No, just a tummy bug. But it's never nice for a little person to come down with. He's only two, going on three.

Oh, that's rough. Being sick when you're little definitely sucks. It's bad enough when you're an adult, but when you're little? I hope he feels better soon.

He's a resilient little lad, though. He'll bounce back. Just needs a lot of TLC.

That's good. I'm glad to hear that. Is he the only little guy in the family?

[artsdesire]

He is here. Our family overseas has littlies. But here, Dani and I with her sister Luci are the oldest kids. At least, still alive.

Alive? Did somebody pass away?

[artsdesire]

Dani and Luci's older sister was killed in a car accident when she was 21.

Oh, wow. I'm sorry. That's awful.

It was awhile ago now, but it is what it is. Life sucks sometimes.

That it does. Thank fuck for the good times, or everyone would probably commit end up in a constant state of depression.

Pain is what reminds us to cherish the good times.

That's what I think, too. It can't be perfect, but you'd never appreciate the happy times if it weren't for the sad ones.

Some people love being miserable, though. Whenever one drama ends, another one starts on cue. I'm glad I'm not one of them.

I'm glad you're not, too. I tend to be pretty happy go lucky when it comes to life. It doesn't mean I ignore the bad stuff that happens, but I don't want to dwell in the bad when there is good going on.

Legitimate drama is fine, though. It happens, you can't avoid it. That's why it's great having a big family.

Exactly. You can't help that. I totally understand that. But when you crave drama, it takes all the happy out of life... and the lives of those around you, too.

[artsdesire]

Again, lucky I have amazing people around me.

[lastfirstkiss]

Your family sounds really special. It's good you're close to them. I'm close to mine, too. We're all native New Yorkers, so when I finished school in Boston, coming back home was the only way to go for me.

[artsdesire]

They are. They're just quite spread out, but you have to make the time for family. No one can replace them.

[lastfirstkiss]

Do you get to go to Italy a lot to visit the ones there?

[artsdesire]

I do. I spend a lot of time overseas. I'm just one of those people who belongs in various places, some more than others.

[lastfirstkiss]

That's awesome. Do you get to spend a lot of time with the Irish side of your family too? Do you like travelling alone or with other people?
