"I didn't understand
I didn't wanna know
At least I took a chance
I had to let it go."

• Elevator, David Archuleta

Although Portland, Oregon, was Reecy’s intended destination, she made a much-needed stopover in Arkansas on the way. The hardest part for her was knowing that, given the chance, she could fall in love with her fabulously spontaneous, tall, dark and handsome cowboy. He had swept her off her feet, made her feel special, treated her with such kindness and affection. He had become like a drug for her, and in that, she knew it was time to go cold turkey.

It was a relief for her to visit Craig in Arkansas. Besides the fact she got to perve on him shirtless while he groomed his horse, she learned that the reason he had be planning to made the move to New York was both personal and professional. It wasn’t to chase after her so they could prance into the sunset together to live happily ever after. Okay, so she was a basic bitch who had had dreams of that while she had been swept up in his bubble of arousing attention. She had been through hell with her last break-up, and it had made her feel worthless, like she didn’t deserve the admiration and fluffy-love that her friends seemed to have in bucketloads.

Craig was the epitome of perfection, and if he moved to New York, she would’ve wanted to pursue something, because she was addicted. Not only did she have this addiction to what he was giving her, but her self-esteem and self-worth had plummeted... )

129.1.1 - lyrics
"So, I've broken every bone
And fought through what felt never ending
I thought my head was made of sadness
But my heart is mending."

Shelby doesn't know what to feel when she first sees Peter Fowler in her race shop for the first time in three years. He's still the same man she saw in Victory Lane just a month ago: the tall, slightly lanky Irishman who never seems to age and still has that sparkle in his green eyes. Yet it feels like she hasn't seen him in forever. The last time they worked on the same side was when he was a second-year strategist still cutting his teeth and she was still an immature, impulsive young woman. Not a five-year veteran and a two-time IndyCar champion.

It's not that she doesn't want him there. He's like a brother to her, and like a son to her father, and she will always remember that he came first. )

"Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness. They are a sign of a pure heart." - José N. Harris

One of the hardest parts of the job was getting close to a patient and feeling helpless in trying to help them. Connor was facing that more and more it seemed since changing fellowships. Now he began to wonder had he made the right choice? Did he make the biggest mistake he could have? Did Downey have too much faith in a failure? He really tried to push those thoughts from his mind but they continually crept in. Today he was close to losing a patient. A young baby who barely even got to live. He thought maybe things were going his way but he cannot fault a good outcome for another patient. He was just at the end of his rope and sitting alone now in a room after another failed phone call? He covered his face and just began to cry for that little boy. He began to cry for his parents who he knew were losing hope on their baby boy surviving. Maybe he wasn't cut out for dealing with children, they always said those cases were the hardest.

He heard someone... )
