137.1. Lyrics

"Tell me, I guess that cupid was in disguise
The day you walked in and changed my life
I think it's amazing,
The way that love can set you free
So now I walk in the midday sun
I never thought that my saviour would come
I think it's amazing
I think you're amazing."

• Amazing, George Michael

This was a day Sasha would never forget. He had assumed that in coming on this trip to London with Justin and his family, that everything they did would be as a group. That had been fine with him, he had just been excited as all shit to be invited along. He and Justin still had time together when they were with his family. They had never once made Sasha feel like he wasn't welcome. There was only one person who made him feel like that, but that story didn't have a place on this trip.

Not that day. That day, they decided they wanted some time alone together, so Amarlie and Justin's mom jumped on the chance to hit London's shopping district and Mr Campbell arrange to catch up with an old college mate who was also a lawyer here in London. It worked out really well. The first stop had been Paddington Station. Sasha would be lying if he said he hadn't been excited about dropping by there. He had grown up on Paddington Bear, which was a special connection between him and his grandmother, who had been born in England.

Justin had done so many amazing things for Sasha since they met, that he wanted to do something special for him. Not just special in a generic sense, but special to him that he could share with Justin. He had written down Paddington Station as the destination on a little slip of paper from the complimentary notebook in the hotel room. He gave it to the cab driver in the midst of having a thrill that he was about to catch a ride in a classic London black cab. He wanted it to be a surprise.

It wasn't a long journey. The London city centre was crazy busy, as expected, but the cab driver was an expert in navigating through the streets. It was so different to America. They sat holding hands, and Sasha spent most of the journey looking out the window with his mouth hanging open, making some pretty embarrassing squeaking sounds of excitement every time he saw a sight he recognised. They drove past Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace, and up a few streets on the Monopoly board. That was just as exciting as anything else, to be able to see these places in the flesh.

When they got there, Justin was confused. He made a joke about Sasha finally cottoning on to the fact Justin was high maintenance and was trying to escape from him. Sasha just laughed, but told him to just come with him for a minute. Not that he knew exactly where to find what he was looking for, but he figured a bit of walking around, they would eventually stumble upon it. And they did. In all it's glory in the middle of the station was a stand selling an array of Paddington Bear items, including all size Paddingtons himself.

Sasha selected one of the biggest Paddington Bears on the stand that they would be able to carry around with them until they got back to the hotel. He paid for it, and gave it to his boyfriend as a present, explaining the significance of it to him. Justin was so touched by it that he started to cry and pulled Sasha into a smoosh-hug. Reecy was right. Justin gave the best smooh hugs ever. Passersby probably thought they were saying an emotional goodbye to each other, about to bid farewell. Sasha was glad that wasn't the case, but this had become a moment, in a day, he knew he would treasure forever, no matter what the future held.

Next, they decided to go to the London Eye. Sasha didn't realise you could hire one of the cubicle to yourself, and he had assumed they would be sandwiched into one with a pile of other tourists. Not the case. Justin had booked a cubicle just for them. The original plan had been to go on a twilight ride on it the first day in London, but they had to give it a miss when Sasha started to get a headache that he didn't want to turn into a migraine. They stayed in that night instead, ordering room service and watching the first two Harry Potter movies in preparation of their visit to the Harry Potter Studios in the coming days.

The banks of the River Thames was busy, even if it was winter. Winter didn't deter tourists, and London was just as pretty in the cold weather. It was cold, though, and as they waited to board the London Eye, they snuggled up together and Sasha rubbed his nose against Justin's, laughing when he felt how cold Justin's was. He was pretty sure there was a bunch of people around their age that had recognised Justin. They were staring, only trying to look like they weren't. A couple of them pointed and were huddled up talking together.

Sasha felt a little self-conscious. This part of things would take some getting used to. He was dating a celebrity. This was the name of the game. "I think they recognise you," he told Justin.

"Probably," Justin agreed, but he didn't even glance over. He was looking up at the wheel as it slowly turned.

It took about 30 minutes per rotation, so it wasn't like it was whipping around or anything. It was still huge to be standing under. "Do you think they'll try to talk to you?" Sasha asked.

"Nope. If they haven't already, they either don't know it's really me, or they don't have the courage to find out."

"Oh," Sasha said with a nod, discreetly glancing over to the huddle. "Will you say something to them?"

Justin laughed. "No, why would I? I'm on my holiday. I'm not working. I'm here with you, not them."

That made Sasha smile. His eyes shifted away from the probable-fans and back to Justin, squeezing his hand. Once on the wheel, Paddington was given a prime seat atop the railing in the cubicle, and the view was incredible. Neither of them had issues with heights, so they spent the first rotation with their noses stuck to the glass, taking in all the views. They could pick out many of the London landmarks up there. They kissed and cuddled, excitedly pointing the different things out to each other, and trying to spot where their hotel was.

Soon, "Dance with me?" Justin requested, turning to Sasha with a smile.

"Dance?" There's no music," Sasha laughed, confused. "I'm a terrible dancer. It's only going to be worse without music."

"Yes there is," Justin corrected and took his phone from the inner pocket of his jacket. "Apple Music, baby."

Sasha tipped his head with a smile. "Sexy and smart. And they wonder why I'm hooked on you. I'm still a shit dancer, though."

Justin shook his head, scrolling through his playlists. "Maybe you just haven't had the right partner yet." He found the song he was looking for. "We went to Notting Hill the other day. When we were there, I realised this song is you. It's one of my favourites." He hit play, turning the volume up. Starting to play through the phone was When You Say Nothing At All by Ronan Keating. He put the phone down in Paddington's lap and took Sasha's hand.

Sasha's eyes searched Justin. He had never slow-danced before. Justin pulled him close, and it felt as good as it looked in all the movies. He caught the corner of his lip between his teeth because he was nervous he couldn't do this, but it came naturally. All it really was was a cuddle with movement. Except, it was that and so much more. The best part was when Justin rested his head down on Sasha's shoulder and laced their fingers together. This beat any view London offered up there.

These lyrics Justin chose for him, so he listened to the words as much as he got lost in the moment of Justin holding him and slow-dancing with him. He was hit with another one of those complete moments of disbelief that Justin had chosen him out of, well, the entire world. When Justin lifted his head, Sasha didn't hesitate in kissing him. The kiss was slow to match their dancing, and then they rested their foreheads together, just gazing at each other. Sasha's arms were around Justin's neck, and Justin was holding him around the waist.

Pretty much one of the best moments in Sasha's entire life, as short as it was so far. Something shifted in him in that moment, and without even letting himself overthink it, he said softly, "I love you."

When Justin held his gaze in that moment, Sasha found himself holding his breath, expecting Justin not to return the words. He was sure it was too soon for him. There was no rulebook that said it had to be a conclusion reached simultaneously in a new relationship. But then...

"I love you."

Sasha's fingers slid through the back of Justin's hair at the nape of his neck, and he pulled him into another kiss. As gorgeous as London was, there was nothing it had to offer that could top this moment for Sasha. Not a single thing at all.
