"Love is the answer, but while you are waiting for the answer, sex raises some pretty good questions."
- Woody Allen

When Jesse woke up very early that morning, it didn’t take long for it to come filtering back to him what had happened the night before. He was naked in a bed that wasn’t his, and was being spooned by an equally as naked body with a little bit of morning sunlight streaming into the room from the crack between the curtains. From behind him, he could hear the deep and even breathing, even feeling it tickle the back of his neck rhythmically. He was next aware of the arm cuddled almost protectively around his waist, and this time, he remembered everything about the night before.

He lifted his head just a little from the pillow so he could glance over his shoulder. Jace was dead to the world and he had pushed a lot of the covers over onto Jesse, leaving his own bare ass sticking out the side. They were both mostly on Jesse’s side of the bed too, with a large space left over on the side Jace should probably be sleeping on, but Jesse had no problems with this arrangement whatsoever. It just felt... weird. This was literally the first time he had woken up naked with a guy and not hung over. This time, he remembered everything they did the night before.

Their brunch date had lasted for hours when they chatted, and eventually left the cafe to go back to the place Jace lived with his brother, Evan. That was weird for Jesse, considering Evan was not only a work colleague but his doctor. He just could not end whatever was happening between them because of that. Jace had distinctly said his brother was working, because he thought it sucked he had been rostered on Thanksgiving. He also flippantly added that Evan didn’t mind that because it meant others with children or a lot of family members could be home with their family, and he and Jace had a huge turkey dinner the night before anyway. That didn’t seem like the ego-laden guy Evan was at the hospital. It didn’t add up. Still, true to his word, Jace’s brother wasn’t at home once they got there. Jace made them both banana splits for afternoon tea and they popped in a DVD to settle into watch it on the sofa together.

They watched the movie and ate their dessert, and once it was done, chatted even more. They didn’t even realise how quickly the time seemed to pass. As they say, time flew when you were having fun. It was the first time Jesse really relaxed in ages because Jace was so damn easy to talk to. One thing didn’t even really lead to another. It was relaxed and slow, and for the first time, Jesse was the one to instigate the first kiss. He had gotten a burst of courage when they were sitting there comfortably together. Jace was giving him that easy smile he had and Jesse just got hit with an urge to kiss him. Jace didn’t even baulk. He was kissing Jesse back once the green light was there and it wasn’t long before Jesse was lying on top of Jace on the sofa, both their shirts unbuttoned and flies undone with hands down their pants.

Jesse expected himself to want to stop, or even to freak out with his quickly things were going because a lot of this he was very inexperienced with. None of those feelings came, though. The making out just intensified and even though they were still technically fully clothed, it wasn’t impeding on them to give each other mutual handjobs right there on the sofa while they made out. It did sweep Jesse off his feet a bit. He was feeling sort of heady and disbelieving after it happened, even almost shy that he had unabashedly just given another guy a handjob during a very intense make-out session. Jace had asked if he was okay, seeming to pick up on Jesse’s bashfulness then, but Jesse had promised him he was fine. Which is exactly what led Jace to suggest they move on from the sofa to his bedroom. That was the sink or swim moment, and Jesse knew that if he said no, Jace would be perfectly okay with it. Jace wasn’t pressuring him at all, and all Jesse had to do was figure out if he was truly ready for this. He wasn’t sure he wanted to get involved in something like casual sex, but it wasn’t just that because they had talked just about all day and into the evening. He had wanted conversation, and very much got that.

So, he agreed, even if he had butterflies of nerves in his gut. He toyed with the idea of not telling Jace how inexperienced he was. Part of him wanted to just roll with this and see what his own skills were like considering he didn’t remember anything of what he had done with Kevin. He had appreciated that Kevin was his first time with a guy, and it was special to him, but he had been drunk and ended up having a seizure the morning after because of too much alcohol. In the end, he went with the somewhat cliché ‘honest is the best policy’. He admitted to Jace when they were in his bedroom and just broken off from another kiss that he wasn’t very experienced. In fact, there had only been one other guy, and he was drunk at the time.

Jace just gave him a soft smile and told him it didn’t matter, and they could go at whatever pace Jesse wanted. If even wanted to stop altogether, that was fine too. Jesse really hadn’t wanted to stop, and didn’t. They ended up sleeping together three times in a row, and Jesse was oblivious to the rest of the world existed outside the four walls of Jace’s room. They had both been exhausted and more than a little sleepy once they were done. Jesse felt a little awkward in that he didn’t really know what he was supposed to do in the aftermath, but Jace had just given him a faint, sleepy smile, tucked his arm around Jesse’s waist and then promptly went out like a light.

It took Jesse a little longer to fall asleep. Not that much. Just long enough for him to lie there for a few moments and appreciate what that night had meant to him. It had been really nice and Jace had lead him to things Jesse didn’t even know he wanted to try. Now it was morning, though, and Jace was still sleeping soundly. Jesse didn’t want to disturb him, so he settled back down with his head on the pillow and slowly, carefully linked his fingers in with Jace’s while he basked in the feeling of waking up in bed with someone the morning after a night of sex that was much more like how everyone made it sound. He was suddenly wondering if this could happen again, but he didn’t want to get ahead of himself. Instead, he was just going to lie there and let it sink in that yes, he was without a doubt gay, and this was the first time he felt like he didn’t need to let any part of him run and hide from it.
